Post.....!
For all my friends, whether close or casual, just because. This is one of the longest posts I will ever make, and one of the most real too. Everyone will go through some hard times at some point. Life isn't easy. Just something to think about. Did you know the people that are the strongest are usually the most sensitive? Did you know the people who exhibit the most kindness are the first to get mistreated? Did you know the ones who take care of others all the time are usually the ones who need it the most? Did you know the three hardest things to say are I love you, I'm sorry, and help me? Sometimes just because a person looks happy, you have to look past their smile to see how much pain they may be in. To all my friends who aregoing through some issues right now--let's start an intentional avalanche. We all need positive intentions right now. If I don't see your name, I'll understand. May I ask my friends wherever you might be, to kindly copy and paste this status for one hour to give a moment of support to all of those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just needs to know that someone cares. Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune. I hope to see this on the walls of all my friends just for moral support. I know some will!!! I did it for a friend and you can too. You have to copy and paste this one, NO SHARING...I will leave it in the comments so it is easier for you to copy paste

ST.Francis Xavier
Born: 7 April 1506
Xavier, Kingdom of Navarre (present Spain)
Died: 3 December 1552 (aged 46)
Portuguese Base at São João Island (now China)
Francis Xavier, SJ, born Francisco de Jasso y Azpilicueta (7 April 1506 – 3 December 1552), was a Roman Catholic missionary born in Xavier, Kingdom of Navarre (now part of Spain), and co-founder of the Society of Jesus. He was a study companion of St. Ignatius of Loyola and one of the first seven Jesuits who took vows of poverty and chastity at Montmartre, (Paris) in 1534.[1] He led an extensive mission into Asia, mainly in the Portuguese Empire of the time. He was influential in evangelization work most notably in India. He also ventured into Japan, Borneo, the Maluku Islands, and other areas which had, until then, not been visited by Christian missionaries. In these areas, being a pioneer and struggling to learn the local languages in the face of opposition, he had less success than he had enjoyed in India. It was a goal of Xavier to extend his missionary preaching to China but he died in Shangchuan Island shortly before doing so.
St. Francis Xavier was beatified by Paul V on 25 October 1619, and was canonized by Gregory XV on 12 March 1622. In 1624 he was made co-patron of Navarre alongside Santiago. He is considered to be one of the greatest missionaries since St. Paul.[2] He is known as the "Apostle of the Indies," and the "Apostle of Japan”. In 1927, Pope Pius XI published the decree “Apostolicorum in Missionibus” naming St. Francis Xavier, along with St. Thérèse of Lisieux, co-patron of all foreign missions.[3] He is now co-patron saint of Navarre with San Fermin. The Day of Navarre (Día de Navarra) in Spain marks the anniversary of Saint Francis Xavier's death on December 3, 1552.

The Tree
I stand here uncertainly
Two leaves in the twig
Bends for light of morn,
Sway weakly in the wind
Lonely I grow swinging
Like an abandon child into a girl
As longings of every passerby.
I shyly bow down my face
Masses of flowers on breast,
Rapt thirsty lips for juicy fruits
My call in the words of love,
The bees as enchanting brides
Quiver in honey-sweet songs
Caress my spring in passion.
The sun-brook brimfully kisses
The Cooing birds rest on breast,
My Flowers bloom feasting eyes
Radiantly glow around God’s neck,
A gift of love in basking bouquet
Bright in the head of a lovely girl
Lovers Look at her without fatigue.
I stand firm in blazing heat
In freezing snow of winter,
Never scared of untimely storm
Never spoke out my pain
When my arms are chopped down.
Suddenly leaves fall fast
Left alone in wrinkled skin,
Uncared as broken doll
I see me useless as old.
Orphaned by earth I depart
Time’s fidelity pains me a lot,
Up rooted from garden
Like a broken pot to the soil.

Virtual World
FR. AUGUSTINE THOMAS
Children and social media
“Look at my son. He is just three years old but he handles my iphone like an adult. He is going to be a computer engineer,” a young dad told me with great pride recently. “Oh sure, but what I am afraid of is that your son could adopt the i-phone and other similar gadgets as his foster home and may not need a real home anymore,” I commented. That young dad was obviously very thrilled that his three year old son was spending most of his waking hours with i-phones and laptops when in fact the child should have been interacting with his family members and playing games with other kids of his age.
The idea that growing children should be involved in technological and virtual world in order to ‘belong’ to the present generation is erroneous. Smart phones and other gadgets of the same nature should not be their best companions. Addiction to these will have long term consequences for the child. Why do I say this? It is generally accepted that beginning from the early stages of our life we have physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Only when these basic needs are sufficiently addressed can a child achieve holistic growth.
Experts agree that as a baby develops from infancy to childhood, the most basic need is a good and stable family environment where a child can experience strong parental love and acceptance. As a child grows into adolescence the role of the family does not diminish. On the other hand, an adolescent at this stage is in greater need of an understanding family and supportive peer group who can guide him/her to accept and healthily cope with the rapid physical and psychological changes caused by hormone productions in the body. From adolescence to adulthood is another developmental journey and it needs role models from family and social circles in order to achieve meaning and purpose in life.
It is in this context that the use and abuse of i-phones or any other gadgets for that matter should be discussed. Could a child grow and develop into a healthy adult when s/he substitutes living relationships in families and friends with i-phones, smart phones and laptops? Does the virtual world that they create for themselves make them genuinely happy and content with their life? Or are they living in an illusionary world of happiness? This concern needs immediate attention.
In my personal observation techno-friendly life in early age has made our growing children less effective in good human relationship. When a child who needs a mother, father or a person who can rear him/her up in genuine human relationship is given TV, computers and mobile phones as things to relate with, how will that child grow as a relational human being? Such a child replaces the human company with machines because s/he has already found a place where s/he can enjoy pleasure and fun without realizing that the comforts offered by these gadgets are transient and can never replace authentic human relationships. Eventually living with technology becomes normal.
In the easily accessible and addictive gadgets of this age, growing children have found a new kind of intimacy that is thrilling. Can a child grow out of it? Good parental guidance and proper education on the pros and cons of the gadgets, virtual world and social networking habits can help a person use them responsibly. However, if not accompanied well, the elements of human affection, care, touch, warmth and feeling of belongingness would take a back seat in a child’s scheme of things. Such a child will look for ‘the feel good factor’ in the virtual homes of social media. The obvious outcome is that the child becomes an alien in his/her own home.
The number of youngsters who live in virtual homes is increasing at an alarming rate today. This group is techno-friendly but not human friendly. As a result, real time interaction with one’s family and friends is reduced to a minimum. Issues and concerns are dealt with superficially in ‘virtual’ homes. A drawback of this is that we meet many young people who are impatient with solitude and intolerant with parents or genuine role models. Their intellectual abilities are unquestionable but their socio-familial interactions are shallow and fleeting. In such a socio-cultural environment individual life and rights are equated with unbridled freedom. ‘Likes’ are adopted as new mothers and ‘comments’ are assimilated as foster fathers.
Take Facebook. A youngster can be hooked to it while studying, while having dinner with the family, while out with friends, while attending classes and while watching a movie. By using it in such an addictive way, the person eventually adopts a fake world where s/he wants to hang out all the time. S/he learns that virtual relationships are easier than the real relationships at home or in the school because commitment is not a value in virtual relationship. Everything and everyone is ‘posted’, discussed and commented upon. Privacy is almost nonexistent.
Curiosity is the leading attitude here. This makes a person delve into what, when, where, and how of another’s life. Vicarious pleasure is the unconscious aim. Photos, likes and comments tend to make or break a person’s happiness. Then there are groups to be part of and games to be played. Therefore when s/he is invited for dinner with the family, more often than not the answer will be, “Not now, Mom! I shall eat later.” A meal with the family becomes secondary. Unconsciously the person has decided to opt out of the world of flesh and blood relationships and immerse himself/herself into a world of “likes and comments.”
The grand outcome of all these is growing confusion between the real world and the virtual world. The social media has the ability to create in a youngster a confused state of mind. His or her involvement in the social networking sites wrongly convinces him/her that virtual world is real because s/he feels that all his/her needs are met in these sites.
Allegorically speaking, teenage is the time for preparing the field (one’s heart and mind) for a great harvest in the future. No farmer will plant anything in an unprepared field. First the field will be cleared of all weeds and stones. After that the field will be sufficiently ploughed. Seeds are sowed only after the field is sufficiently ready. Planting saplings in an unprepared field will not give us the desired benefits.
Do social networking sites, smart phones, i-phones and virtual world at large prepare a youngster to plough the field of his/her mind and heart and plant in them healthy seeds that will make him/her an authentic human being? Or are these things distancing the teenagers from this most important period of preparation for their future life?
Of course, social networking sites, smart phones and i-phones all have numerous benefits. One cannot ignore the positive influences these things have in one’s personal life and society. But as parents and educators we have a collective responsibility to imprint upon our young minds that family, deep relationships, trust, ability to keep secrecy, privacy and the like are more important. We have the responsibility to mould our youngsters into more humane individuals.

Nepal, Division 3 Champion.......!
KATHMANDU, Oct 30: Capping an impressive campaign in Malaysia, Nepal defended the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 title on Thursday defeating Uganda by 62 runs in the final of the tournament at the Kinrara Oval Academy in Kuala Lumpur.
Having already secured promotion to ICC WCL Division 2 on Wednesday as the top team of the round-robin league, Nepal produced an all-round performance in the final to lift the title and also avenge the defeat to Uganda in its opener.
Nepal, Division 3 champion in 2013, was relegated to the same division after a disappointing ICC World Cup Qualifiers campaign in January earlier this year.
Electing to bat first, Nepal made an impressive start with the top three batsmen scoring half-centuries, but the middle and lower order failed to build on it as Nepal collapsed to 223 all out on the penultimate ball of the innings.
Defending a modest total, Nepal then bowled out Uganda for 161 runs in 44.1 overs with disciplined bowling and tight fielding. Bhuwan Karki pocketed four wickets for Nepal and Basanta Regmi claimed two. Shakti Gauchan, Sagar Pun and Sompal Kami shared a wicket each.
"The boys are happy and in a celebratory mood after retaining the title, and we achieved what we had wanted," said Nepal´s head coach Pubudu Dassanayake. "Beating Uganda in the final was special and we got the perfect revenge. We had failed to play to our standard in the opener."
"Everyone has been pushing themselves for this event because we know it´s a pathway to ODI status, as well as the ICC Intercontinental Cup and the ICC World Cricket League Championship. We want to be there, and we are doing whatever we can from our side to get to that level, and hopefully we can make it through Division 2 to those competitions," the International Cricket Council (ICC) quoted Nepal skipper Paras Khadka as saying in a press release issued on Thursday.
Nepali top order has been struggling with the bat since long, but the openers showed signs of improvement during the Division 3 tournament. On Thursday as well, Nepal got a sound start from the top order with openers Sagar Pun (64) and Naresh Budhaayer (51) and No 3 batsman Gyanendra Malla (56) all crossing the half-century mark.
However, the middle order and tail-enders failed to deliver in the final as skipper Paras (13) was the only other batsman to reach double figures.
"The most positive aspect of the tournament was that the top order started getting runs. Subash Khakurel, Naresh, Gyanendra and Sagar all did well in batting," said Dassanayake.
He, however, opined that there were lots of areas for improvement as well. "Though we got a good start, we failed to cross the 250-run mark. We did not have a good finish."
"Now we have to get ready for Division 2. We have to work even harder in the coming days because we will be playing at a different level. A top-two finish in Division 2 will take Nepali cricket to another level," Dassanayake said.
The Division 2 tournament is scheduled to take place in Namibia from January 17 to 24 next year and will feature six teams -- Nepal, Uganda, host Namibia, Kenya, Canada and the Netherlands. It is a gateway to the ICC Intercontinental Championship, a four-day first-class cricket tournament, and the World Cricket Championship as the top two teams of Division 2 will qualify for these two events.

Could Multiple Sclerosis Begin in the Gut?
MS researchers are focusing on the content of the gut’s microbiome as a possible contributor to the body’s autoimmune attack on its nervous system
Oct 8, 2014
••
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an electrical disorder, or rather one of impaired myelin, a fatty, insulating substance that better allows electric current to bolt down our neurons and release the neurotransmitters that help run our bodies and brains. Researchers have speculated for some time that the myelin degradation seen in MS is due, at least in part, to autoimmune activity against the nervous system. Recent work presented at the MS Boston 2014 Meeting suggests that this aberrant immune response begins in the gut.
Eighty percent of the human immune system resides in the gastrointestinal tract. Alongside it are the trillions of symbiotic bacteria, fungi and other single-celled organisms that make up our guts’ microbiomes. Normally everyone wins: The microorganisms benefit from a home and a steady food supply; we enjoy the essential assistance they provide in various metabolic and digestive functions. Our microbiomes also help calibrate our immune systems, so our bodies recognize which co-inhabitants should be there and which should not. Yet mounting evidence suggests that when our resident biota are out of balance, they contribute to numerous diseases, including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, autism and, it appears, MS by inciting rogue immune activity that can spread throughout the body and brain.
One study presented at the conference, out of Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), reported a single-celled organism called methanobrevibacteriaceae that activates the immune system is enriched in the gastrointestinal tracts of MS patients whereas bacteria that suppress immune activity are depleted. Other work, which resulted from a collaboration among 10 academic researcher centers across the U.S. and Canada, reported significantly altered gut flora in pediatric MS patients while a group of Japanese researchers found that yeast consumption reduced the chances of mice developing an MS-like disease by altering gut flora.
Sushrut Jangi, a staff physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston who co-authored the BWH study, thinks that regional dietary influences might even be at play. “The biomes of people living in different areas and who consume Western versus non-Western diets are demonstratively different,” he says. “People who emigrate from non-Western countries, including India, where MS rates are low, consequently develop a high risk of disease in the U.S. One idea to explain this is that the biome may shift from an Indian biome to an American biome,” although there is not yet data to support this theory.
The microbiome theory is gaining so much steam in academia that a coalition of four U.S. research centers called the MS Microbiome Consortium recently formed to investigate the role of gut microorganisms in the disease. The group presented data in Boston showing significantly different gastrointestinal bacterial populations in patients treated with the MS drug glatiramer acetate compared with untreated subjects. How exactly the drug suppresses MS activity is unknown but the findings suggest that perhaps it works in part by altering gut flora and, as a result, suppressing abnormal immune activity. “The gut is well-positioned for an important role in the development of autoimmune disease, including MS.,” says Ilana Katz Sand, an assistant professor of neurology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and member of the MS Microbiome Consortium. “But important questions remain, such as how MS medications affect the microbiome, how an individual’s microbiome may affect treatment responses, whether particular bacterial species are associated with more severe disease and ultimately whether we can manipulate the microbiome to benefit our patients.”
Katz Sand says that dietary and probiotic approaches to treating MS are worth pursuing, as is a less palatable approach: fecal transplantation. Yet answers in science and medicine are rarely simple, she added, pointing out that in all likelihood MS arises from a complicated confluence of genetic and environmental influences that might ultimately trigger autoimmune activity. Beyond just our gut flora well over 100 genetic variants—many related to immune function—are now known to contribute to the disease as are external factors including vitamin D deficiency (MS is more common at higher latitudes), smoking and increased salt intake.
Further confounding our ability to pinpoint root causes is that our genetic code influences how our bodies and brains respond to these external factors. It could be that both genes and environmental stimuli lead to pathologic microbiomes or that some unfortunate combination of these factors leads to a common autoimmunologic pathway that ravages myelin. “We know the microbiome shapes our immune system and that MS is an immune-mediated disease. We also know that genes influence our microbiomes and immune systems,” says David Hafler, professor of neurology and immunobiology at Yale University School of Medicine who was at the conference but not involved in the microbiome work presented. But there must be nongenetic factors contributing to the disease, too, given that the incidences of MS and other autoimmune disorders are increasing.
“Maybe it’s a lot of little factors like low vitamin D, increased body mass index and increased salt intake,” Hafler says, “but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was one big thing, much like how H. pylori was found to cause ulcers. No one’s identified a clear bug that’s driving MS but I think it’s important we keep looking.”
