गुरू पूर्णिमा

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णु: गुरुर्देवो महेश्वर: ! 
गुरु: साक्षात् परम् ब्रह्मा तस्मै श्री गुरुवे नम: !!
                     आज गुरूपूर्णिमा, गुरुको सम्मान गर्ने दिन । आज सबै जना आफुले गुरु मानेका व्यक्तिहरुको सम्मान आदर र सम्झना गर्ने दिन । संस्कृत भाषामा ‘गु’ को अर्थ अन्धकार र ‘रु’ को अर्थ नष्ट गर्नु भएकोले ‘गुरु’ले अन्धकार जस्तो अज्ञानतालाई नष्टगरि ज्ञानको उज्यालो प्रदान गर्छन।
महाभारत, श्रीमद्भागवत, अठार पुराण लगायतका ग्रन्थका रचयिता तथा बेदलाई चार भागमा बिभाजन गर्ने देवर्षी बेदव्यासको जन्म जयन्तिको अबसरमा प्रत्येक बर्षको असार शुक्ल पूर्णिमाको दिन गुरु पुर्णिमा मनाउने गरिन्छ।
द्वापर युगको अन्त्यतिर आजकै दिन ऋषि परासर र माझीपुत्री मत्स्यगन्धाको पुत्रका रुपमा व्यासको जन्म भएको हिन्दुग्रन्थमा उल्लेख छ।आजको दिन आफूलाई शिक्षा प्रदान गर्ने गुरुको सम्मानमा शिष्यहरूले विभिन्न मिष्ठान्न भोजनका साथ श्रद्धाभाव प्रकट गर्ने परम्परा रही आएको र गुरुलाई आमा वुवा सरह मान्ने प्रचलन समेत रहेको छ ।
यथार्थमा भन्नु पर्दा मेरो पहिलो गुरु मेरा आमा बुवा हुन् जसले मलाई धेरै कुरा सिकाए र धेरै ज्ञान दिए | तेसपछी मेरा सिसु कक्षाका शिक्षक जस्ले मलाई गोलो गोलो अण्डा पुलिसको डण्डा हनुमानको पुच्छर भनि 'क' अक्षर भन्न र लेख्न सिकाउनु भएको थियो तेसै गरि मेरा उच्च शिक्षासम्म पुग्न साथ दिने मेरा गुरुहरुलाइ गुरु पुर्णिमाको शुभकामना प्रकट गर्न चाहान्छु |
हामीले बर्षको ३६४ दिन गुरुलाइ आदर गर्नु पर्छ र १ दिन बिशेस आदर गर्न जरुरि छ.... सायद उहाँहरु न भैदिएको भए म यो अवस्थासम्म पुग्न सक्दिन थिए होला........!

NASA says 1,284 new planets found outside our solar system by Kepler telescope

Key points:NASA has announced the discovery of 1,284 new planets outside our solar system, more than doubling the number of known exoplanets found with the Kepler space telescope.

• 550 of new planets could be rocky like Earth
• Nine of potential rocky planets are in their sun's habitable zone
• Experts now say there could be more planets than stars

"This gives us hope that somewhere out there, around a star much like ours, we can eventually discover another Earth," said Ellen Stofan, chief scientist at NASA headquarters in Washington.

The unmanned Kepler space observatory, which launched in 2009, has been scanning 150,000 stars for signs of orbiting bodies, particularly those that might be able to support life.

It works by observing a dimming in the light of a star, known as a transit, each time an orbiting planet passes in front of it.

"Of the nearly 5,000 total planet candidates found to date, more than 3,200 now have been verified, and 2,325 of these were discovered by Kepler," NASA said in a statement.

Of the new trove, nearly 550 could be rocky planets like Earth, based on their size, the US space agency said.

This knowledge informs the future missions that are needed to take us ever closer to finding out whether we are alone in the universe.

"Nine of these orbit in their sun's habitable zone, which is the distance from a star where orbiting planets can have surface temperatures that allow liquid water to pool."

The addition of these nine means that 21 exoplanets are now known to be possibly circling their stars in the habitable zone, and may harbour life.

However, Kepler is a "statistical mission", NASA scientists said, and is not designed to probe further into the conditions of certain planets that exist in the so-called "Goldilocks zone" of their stars — neither too hot nor too cold to sustain life.

That means even the most advanced space telescopes now being built, including the James Webb Space Telescope, may not be able to shed much more light on the nature of life on another of these exoplanets, if life does exist.

"Before the Kepler space telescope launched, we did not know whether exoplanets were rare or common in the galaxy," said Paul Hertz, astrophysics division director at NASA headquarters.

"Thanks to Kepler and the research community, we now know there could be more planets than stars.

"This knowledge informs the future missions that are needed to take us ever closer to finding out whether we are alone in the universe."

The latest trove of planets was confirmed by a new statistical method, instead of the time-consuming one-by-one process that was used previously.

This statistical analysis method can be applied to many planet candidates simultaneously, according to Timothy Morton, associate research scholar at Princeton University, and lead author of a paper describing the findings in The Astrophysical Journal.

Kepler survived an emergency last month, when some kind of "transient event... triggered a barrage of false alarms that eventually overwhelmed the system", NASA said.

Engineers on Earth were able to rescue the spacecraft and restored its ability to collect data on April 22.

दुई महिनाको उपचारपछि नेपाल फर्किए वरिष्ठ संगितकार अम्बर गुरुङ

चैत्र १७, २०७२- भारतमा उपचाररत वरिष्ठ संगितकार अम्बर गुरुङ स्वास्थ्यमा सुधार आएपछि बुधबार स्वदेश फर्किएका छन् ।

जीवनका ७८ औँ वसन्त पार गरिसकेका राष्ट्रिय गानका संगितकारसमेत रहेका गुरुङ दिल्लीस्थित मेदान्त अस्पतालमा सफल उपचारपछि स्वदेश फर्किएका हुन् । उनी करिब दुई महिनादेखि उक्त अस्पतालमा भर्ना भएका थिए।

सन् १९३८ मा भारतको दार्जिलिङमा जन्मिएका गुरुङ लामो समयदेखि मधुमेह, पाचन प्रणाली र नसालगायतका रोगबाट पीडित थिए ।

मेदान्तको उपचारपछि उनको स्वास्थ्य सामान्य सुधार आएको छ। उनले विमनस्थलमा ओर्लेपछि पत्रकारहरुसँग कुराकानी गर्दै भने, 'मलाई पूर्ण रुपमा सन्चो भएसकेको छैन । तर पहिलेको भन्दा धेरै नै सुधार आएको छ ।' सरकारले उपचारमा सहयोग गरेकोमा धन्यवाद दिँदै उनले भने, ' थप उपचार सहयोगको लागि सरकारी तबरबाट घरमै नर्सको सुविधा मिलाइदिए हुने थियो ।'

उनले फलोअप जाँचको लागि बेलाबेलामा मेदान्त गइराख्नुपर्ने बताए ।

स्वदेश फर्किएलगत्तै गुरुङको सम्मानमा विमानस्थलमै  उनीद्वारा संगितबद्ध राष्ट्रगान ‘सयौँ थुङ्गा फूलका हामी एउटै माला नेपाली’ गाएका थिए । उनलाई पञ्चकन्याले माला र खादा लगाइदिएका थिए ।

नसा तथा पाचन प्रणालीमा समस्या आएपछि यसअघि ग्रान्डी अस्पतालमा भर्ना भएका गुरुङलाई ग्रान्डीले नै मेदान्त ‘रिफर’ गरेको हो ।

नमस्ते,

हाउ आर यु देयर ईन दि ल्यान्ड अफ अर्थक्वेक ? परदेशमा काम गर्दा गर्दै टेलिभिजनमा देखेँ तिमीलाई । तिमी त कोहि नपुगेको भूकम्पपीडितको च्यातिएका त्रिपाल मुनि पुग्यौ रे, भत्किएका घर मुनि गयौ रे, अनि आँखामा आँसु टिलपिल गर्दै गरेका चेलीहरुसंगै बसेर दु:ख साट्यौ रे !

सरगम भट्टराई

म खुशीले रोएँ ह्यारी । म चाहन्थे मेरा आँसुहरु निरन्तर झरिरहून्, त्यसको एउटा खहरे बनोस् र हाम्रा दु:खहरु बगाओस् । मैले यो चिट्ठी तिमीलाई अंग्रेज़ीमा लेखिन किनकी यो तिमीलेमात्रै होइन हाम्रा धेरै नेपालीले पढ्नु छ । यहि चिट्ठीले हामीमध्ये कसैको आँखा खोल्छ कि भन्ने मलाई लागेको छ ।

ह्यारी,

तिमी त युवराज मान्छे, त्यो पनि संसारकै शक्तिशाली देशमध्ये एकको । तिमी त आफ्नो जागिर गर्छौ, देशको लागि सेना भएर लड्छौ, तर हामी साधारण नेपालीभन्दा पनि सामान्य छौँ, हामीलेभन्दा बढी शिर निहुराएर शिष्टाचार गर्छौ । तर उफ़ ! हाम्रा युवराजहरु के-के गर्छन् यो सानो चिट्ठीमा के लेख्नु र ? बि.बि.सी.लाई सोध न है ।

प्यारो राजकुमार, तिमी त लडाईंको मैदानमा खट्ने मान्छे, गुण पनि त गोर्खालीकोजस्तै छ नि है । त्यसैले त तिमी हाम्रा झुप्रोमा अटाएछौ, हाम्रा त्रिपालमुनि अटाएछौ, भत्केका घरहरुमा अटाएछौ, यो भन्दा बढी श्रद्धा अरु के हुन सक्थ्यो र ? तिमीले मलाई मात्रै होइन धेरै भूकम्पपीडितलाई धुरुक्कै रुवायौ ह्यारी ।

हाम्रा युवराज र नवयुवराजहरु आफ्नै देश लुट्न उद्दत छन् तर तिमी त लुटिएको देशमा मलमपट्टी लगाउँदैमा व्यस्त छौ । तिमी भत्किएका बस्तिमा पीडा सुन्दैछौ रे, तर त्यहिँका भूकम्पपीडितका नाममा आएको जस्ता र त्रिपाल निलेर बसेका छन्, हाम्रा नवयुवराजहरु ।

प्यारो ह्यारी,
तिमीलाई चिट्ठी लेख्दा श्रद्धाका अाँसु झरिरहेछन्, तिमी ईशाई भएर टिका लगाईरहेछौ, मन्दिर धाईरहेछौ, होली खेलिरहेछौ । तर यहाँ मान्छेहरु धर्म र स्वाभिमान बेचिरहेका छन्, तिमी गल्ति गरेकोमा प्रायश्चित गर्छौ, तर यहाँ घुस्याहाहरु घुस खाएकोमै गर्व गर्छन् । पटक-पटक गल्ति गर्छन् तर कहिल्यै सुध्रँदैनन् । विडम्बना ह्यारी, बिडम्वना यहाँ त भ्रष्टाचारीहरु हाई-हाई हुन्छन् । सदाचारीहरुले आत्महत्या गर्छन् ।

ह्यारी तिमी गंगा-जमुनासंग नाच्यौ, तर यहाँ राजकुमारहरु भट्टीमा नाच्छन्, नवयुवराजहरु रिसोर्टमा नाँच्छन् तर जनताका भत्केका घरहरुमा पुग्न सक्दैनन् । भन म के सुखद समाचार लेखूँ ?

मैले अचेल सबैलाई चिट्ठी लेखिरहेछु आगो ओकल्ने गरि । तर तिमीलाई लेख्दा माया र सद्भावबाहेक केही झरेन किनकी तिमी ह्यारी होईन हरि बनेर नेपाल आयौ, साँच्चै ह्यारी ! तिमी किन हरि बनेर नेपालमै जन्मिएनौ ?

ह्यारी,
तिमी त संसारकै प्रिय राजकुमार । तिमी त जनताको ढुकढुकीमा बस्ने मान्छे, प्लिज हाम्रा नेताहरुलाई पनि यो यस्तै बन्न सिकाईदेऊ न है ! यहाँ जनतालाई जाति, धर्म र क्षेत्रको नाममा लडाईएको छ ।हार्दिकता र भाइचारा हराएको छ । जनताको मन फुटाएर यहाँ मस्ति गरिँदै छ ।

तिमी भूकम्पपीडत मंगली तामाङको घरको मैलो ओछ्यानमा आराम गरिरहँदा हाम्रा नवयुवराजहरु पाँचतारेमा सुसारेसहित सुकिलो ओछ्यानमा कृडा गरिरहेछन् ह्यारी ! भन म कसरी सुखद् समाचार लेखुँ ? तिमी जनतासंग होली खेलिरहँदा यहाँका भारदारहरुले सोमरसको चुस्की लिएको खबर कति लेखिरहनु !

तिम्रो देशमा पाँच वर्षसम्म बस्दा मैले देखेको विकास र शालीनता सम्झेर म द्रविभूत छु । तर के गर्नु यहाँ त राजनीति र प्रकृति दुवै प्रत्युत्पादक भएपछि । आधा करोड नेपाली युवाहरु आज विदेशिएका छन्, देख्यौ होला नि हैन गाउँमा सुनसान भएको ? देख्यौ होला नि एयरपोर्टमा युवाहरु विदेशिन लाम लागेको ? यस्तै छ हाम्रो हाल ।

अन्त्यमा,
तिम्रो आदर्शले हाम्रा नवयुवराजहरुको तन्द्रा भंग होस् भन्ने कामना गर्दछु । यसैगरी नेपाल र नेपालीको ढुकढुकीमा बसिरहनु है । यस जुनिलाई यस्तै भो अर्को जुनिमा ह्यारी होईन हरि भएर नेपालमै जन्मनू तिमी ! तिमी हाम्रो नेता भएको हेर्ने मन छ ।

ओली सरकारको मधुमास [ कार्टुन ]

माघ ७, २०७२- ओली सरकार गठन भएको सय दिन पूरा भइसकेको छ  तर यसले जनताको आकांक्षा बमोजिम काम गर्न नसकेको भनेर चौतर्फी आलोचना भइरहेको छ । ओली सरकारको मधुमासको सयदिनबारे वात्स्यायनको कार्टुन ।

गेट वेल सुन सिन्धुपाल्चोक

माघ ७, २०७२- अचेल बालबालिकालाई घरको चित्र बनाउन लगायो भने पालले बेरेको छाप्रो बनाउँछन्, कसैले भत्किएको धरहरा त कसैले भूकम्पले पुरिएको स्कुल । चाकुपाटस्थित एमक्युब ग्यालरीमा चित्रकार मनीषलाल श्रेष्ठ केही दिनअघि बालबालिकाका यस्तै चित्रहरू देखाइरहेका थिए । भूकम्पलगत्तै बालमनोविज्ञानमा आर्ट थेरापी गराउने उद्देश्यले उनी लामो समयदेखि कार्यरत छन् ।
‘गेट वेल सुन’ थिममा उनले भूकम्प प्रभावित विभिन्न पाँच जिल्लामा पुगेर बालबालिकाको अनुभव रंगमार्फत संगालेका हुन् । जुन उनले यति बेला आफ्नै ग्यालरीमा ल्याएका छन् । विपत् प्रभावित बालबालिकाको मनोविज्ञान बुझ्न कलाले ठूलो सहयोग गर्छ ।
यही उद्देश्यका साथ मनीषले काभ्रे, सिन्धुपाल्चोक, ललितपुर, काठमाडौं, भक्तपुरलगायत जिल्लामा कला कार्यशाला गरेका छन् । उनको तरिका अलि फरक छ । स्थानीय स्तरमा पाइने प्राकृतिक रंगबाट नै चित्र कोर्न बालबालिकालाई बढी जोड दिन्छन् ।
कोइला, अबिर, माटो, पिठोको माडजस्ता घरेलु रंग पोतेर बालबालिकाले चित्र कोरेका छन् । ‘गेट वेल सुन’ कार्यक्रमअन्तर्गत मनीष एक सातापछि लगत्तै काभ्रे जाँदै छन् । यो कार्यक्रमअन्तर्गत भूकम्प प्रभावित बालबालिकाले चित्रमार्फत मनोभाव प्रकट गर्नेछन् ।
यसैअन्तर्गत उनले शनिबार सहयोज जुटाउन हस्तकला र केहि चित्रकला प्रदर्शनीमा पनि राखेका थिए । एक दिनका लागि राखिएको प्रदर्शनीमा उनले सक्दो राहत संकलन गर्ने प्रयास गरे । काठमाडांैका बालबालिकाले कोरेका चित्र भने ग्यालरीमा प्रदर्शनी जारी छ ।
पेपर र इंकले सजिएका चित्रहरूमा बालबालिकाले धरहरा, स्वयम्भूजस्ता ऐतिहासिक सम्पदा कोरेका छन् । ‘तर, काठमाडौं बाहिरका बालबालिकाले चाहिँ प्राय: छाप्रो बनाउँछन्,’ मनीषले अनुभव साटे, ‘हेलिकप्टरले राहत ल्याएको दृश्य नि पाएँ केही चित्रमा ।’
बालबालिकालाई खुसी बनाउन चित्रकला प्रभावकारी हुने उनले दाबी गरे । अब भने उनको कार्यक्रम ‘गेट वेल सुन मिसन सिन्धुपाल्चोक’ हुनेछ । त्यहाँका सबै गाविसमा उनले आर्ट थेरापी चलाउनेछन् ।

फोटोमा हेर्नुस् हिमपातपछिको जुम्ला

माघ ७, २०७२- भारी हिमपातपछि जुम्ला सेताम्मे देखिएको । मंगलबार साँझदेखि बिहीबार बिहानसम्म लगातार जुम्लामा हिउँ परेको थियो । घरको छतमा जमेको हिउँ फाल्दै स्थानीयहरु रमाइरहेका छन् ।

यस वर्ष ढिलो हिउँ परेकाले हिउँसँग रमाउनेहरु पनि उत्तिकै देखिन्छन् । यातायात तथा हवाइ सेवा अवरुद्ध भएको छ ।
 
हिमपातले कामकाज तथा हिँड्डुल गर्न अप्ठ्यारो परेपनि यतिखेरको हिउँले किसानलाई भने फाइदा पुग्ने भएको छ ।
 
हिउँदको समयमा सिंचाइको अभाव हुने जुम्लामा हिउँले सिंचाइको काम गरेको छ । जुम्लाका दक्षिणी मोहडामा पर्ने विभिन्न गाविसमा एक सय २० भन्दा बढी हिउँ संकलन पोखरी निर्माण गरिएकोले कृषि विकास कार्यालयले किसानलाई हिउँ संकलन गर्न आग्रह गरेको छ । गज्याकोटदेखि रारालिहीसम्मको क्षेत्रमा एक सय २० भन्दा बढी हिउँ संकलन पोखरी निर्माण भएका छन् ।

प्रेमीका – तिमी नभएमा म बाँच्न सक्दिन भन तिमी म संग कहिले बिहे गर्छौ ?
ठट्टा प्रसाद – प्रिय म तिमीसंग अवश्य विहे गर्छु तर पहिले मलाई अफ्नो घरमा सोध्नु पर्छ।

मेरो बुवा – आमाले मेरो निजी जिवनमा चासो गर्नु हुन्न ।

Story

A lovely little girl was holding two apples with both hands.
Her mum came in and softly asked her little daughter with a smile: "my sweetie, could you give your mum one of your two apples?"
The girl looked up at her mum for some seconds, then she suddenly took a quick bite on one apple, and then quickly on the other.
The mum felt the smile on her face freeze. She tried hard not to reveal her disappointment.
Then the little girl handed one of her bitten apples to her mum, and said: mummy, here you are. This is the sweeter one.
No matter who you are, how experienced you are, and how knowledgeable you think you are, always delay judgement. Give others the privilege to explain themselves. What you see may not be the reality. Never conclude for others.
Which is why we should never only focus on the surface and judge others without understanding them first.
Those who like to pay the bill, do so not because they are loaded, but because they value friendship above money.
Those who take the initiative at work, do so not because they are stupid but because they understand the concept of responsibility.
Those who apologize first after a fight, do so not because they are wrong but because they value the people around them.
Those who are willing to help you, do so not because they owe you any thing but because they see you as a true friend.
Those who often text you, do so not because they have nothing better to do but because you are in their heart.
One day, all of us will get separated from each other; we will miss our conversations of everything & nothing; the dreams that we had. Days will pass by, months, years, until this contact becomes rare... One day our children will see our pictures and ask "Who are these people? Poem: Yatri

The Poem “यात्री” (yatri) is a poem written by the famous Poet लक्ष्मीप्रसाद देवकोटा (laxmiprasad devkota). Laxmi Prasad Devkota is arguably the most famous poet of Nepal, often has been given the title as ‘the greatest poet ever of Nepali Literature’. Hence he has been given the title 'Mahakavi’. 'Mahakavi’ literally translates into 'Great Poet’.

'Yatri’ translates into Traveler, but is used as 'Piligrim’ here

MEANING
Short: The only way to make god happy is by helping those in need, not by worshipping him.
Long: Here, the poet is asking which temple the pilgrim will visit to worship which entity. He asks about the pilgrim’s motives when he visits the pilgrimage site riding on people’s shoulders. He then says that the human body itself is a temple, the bones being the pillars, the flesh being the wallas and the brain being the golden roof housing the doorways of the sense organs. He then says that God doesn’t reside in temples, but in the heart, where he reigns. The rays of light emerging from his crown shines like a diamond. The human body is also a temple, amongst the world. God is within everywhere, it is just that our eyes are outside and we cannot see him inside, so it is futile to search various cities in search of him. Lighting hundreds of lights is useless, for god walks along with us. The god kisses the hands that do good work, and God speaks with us in the voices of the birds and the songs of pain. Rather put ointment in the bruised, injured people’s hands than worship Idols of God, for God will be the happiest if we do that. God wants you to help the needy people, for that is the best form of worship, rather than going to various Churches and Temples and offering prayer there. By doing good, you will bring a smile to his divine face. He doesn’t need to be worshipped, for serving people itself is the greatest worship.

St Xavier’s Tihar Celebrations To Help Rebuild Dolakha School

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: The annual St Xavier's College program, Navachitiz Ashaka Kiran, celebrating Dashain and Tihar, was organized on November 7 at the college premises in Maitighar.
Organized by University Solidarity Movement Club and the alumni association of the college, the event drew a large crowd who were kept occupied by different fun activities throughout the day.

Visitors had their pick of various activities like Face Painting, Bingo, Rangoli Making Competition, Flash Mob, Drama, Deusi Bhailo program, etc. Participants of the Rangoli competition had to create rangolis with the theme of nationality and unity. Students of Class 12 'C' won the competition and were awarded dinner coupons. The food stalls were also filled with people who rushed there after all the tiring activities. Meanwhile, musical performances kept many people entertained.

Filmmaker Nischal Basnet, who was one of the chief guests at the event, spoke about his upcoming film and also entertained the crowd of visitors by talking about his filmmaking experiences.

The annual event has always been organized keeping in mind the people in need. However, the organizers also added the themes of unity and cultural diversity for this year's edition. The funds raised from the program this year will go toward helping to rebuild the Shahid Smriti Secondary School in Dolakha which was destroyed by the earthquakes.

जनै पूर्णिमा

जनै पूर्णिमा अर्थात् रक्षावन्धन् । जनै  पुर्णिमाको दिन तागाधारीहरुले पूरानो जनै झिकी गुरुपुरोहितद्वारा मन्त्र पढी सुद्ध पारिएको जनै फेर्ने गर्दछन् । यस्तै एसै दिन रक्षा बन्धन नामक धागो हातमा बाँध्ने चलन छ ।
यस दिन बाँधिएको त्यस धागोलाई तिहारको लक्ष्मीपूजाको दिनमा फुकालेर गाईको पुच्छरमा बाँधी विसर्जन गर्ने परम्परा छ ।
यस दिन ज्वाईंहरुले आफ्ना ससुराबाट नयाँ जनै फेर्नेसमेत गर्दछन् ।
सप्तऋषिलाई तर्पण दिने भएकाले यो दिनलाई ‘ऋषि तर्पणी’ पूर्णिमा पनि भन्ने गरिन्छ ।
तराईका मधेसी समुदायमा भने आजको दिन दिदी बहिनीले आफ्ना दाजुभाइहरुका नाडीमा दीर्घायु तथा सुस्वास्थ्यको कामना गर्दै स्नेहको प्रतीक ‘राखी’ बाँधिदिने चलन छ ।
नेवार समुदायमा सँग सँगै ब्राह्मण/क्षेत्रि र सम्पुर्ण नेपाली मानब समुदायमा आजको दिन विभिन्न गेडागुडीहरूको परिकार ‘क्वाँटी’ खाने चलन छ ।
